My new favorite Cuban soul food.....yes soul food in a non traditional way. I love the breakfast sandwich and the Cuban sandwich is amazing.....however I especially enjoy the steak sandwich it is done to perfection. It is very moist and the onions are sauteed perfectly. The coffee is amazing as well. This whole in the wall is well worth the try. My soul smiles at the thought of my next visit.

If you are looking for real Cuban food with absolutely NO frills, step up to Miyi!. It's a walk up window attached to a gas station, but the food is great. Eat your giant crisp pressed sandwiches, coco trio, rich flan, and more under the shaded picnic tables. Looking forward to going back to try other things on the menu.

We stopped here to find out what it was about and came to find out what a traditional place this is I felt like I was in vacation in Cuba or some other island drinking cold coconut water and amazing Cuban coffee. The prices are amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff. I think every gas station needs a place like this one!

I've eaten here 2 times. you wouldn't know it from the outside but if you go in the convenience store there is a single table in the back where you can order from and sit down. Seats about 4 people. Both times the sandwich has been good and the owner/server checks on me regularly. Nice thing is you can go get whatever drink you want from the convenience store while you wait for your food. Pay for that drink at the store register. I had the port tamale last night and they dressed it with pork and some delicious grilled onions.

I'm hovering around 3.5 stars for Miyi La Cubanita, and in this case going to round down. 4/5 stars for price...but sadly only 3 stars for taste, and we all know taste is more important to me. Here's the thing, Jessica G. had forewarned me that Miyi La Cubanita is a little sketch and maybe not the best place to eat at night, and she was right....but I love these kind of experiences, so I had a blast. Although without a male companion I may only come here during day light hours. Attached to the side of the gas station on the northwest corner of Sample and Dixie is Miyi La Cubanita. And make sure you look at my pictures - this is only a window to order at with a few picnic tables along the side. Perhaps not the best eating environment for anyone uptight, but we loved it. Would love to come back when they have that giant grill fired up! The menu is small, mostly different Cuban sandwich options and one rice and beans plate, but wow is it cheap. Two sandwiches, one rice and beans with steak, three bottled waters, two sides, one cuban coffee = $25!! Impressed on that for sure. And they do take credit cards! After ordering, and as Jessica G. mentioned the guy did speak English, we waited about 5 minutes before our food came out. I decided that I would try the rice and beans with steak. The steak was perfect, but the beans I felt were lacking a little flavor. I'm no expert and Steven C. gave them his Cuban seal of approval, but honestly I think his grandmother's are way better, as are most beans at restaurants I've had. I did have a bite of Steven's sandwich and it was amazing!!

3.5 stars really, but I'm rounding up because it is impressive for what it is. I used to live in this area and passed Miyi La Cubanita all the time. While part of me felt like the area was a little sketchy, I had always wanted to try it. I wasn't a Yelper back then and have since moved making it out of the way for me, but I didn't forget about it, so when we were looking for a quick meal in the area on Friday evening, this seemed like the perfect solution. I was a little worried that there would be a language barrier, my Spanish is nothing amazing, and I had run into problems communicating at a few of the businesses in the area when I lived here, but we had Steven C with us, who speaks it much better than I do. It turned out my worries were for nothing, the man working the window was equally friendly and understanding of both his Spanish and English speaking customers. I decided to order the media noche sandwich (I have a sandwich obsession, take a look at my list). It is somewhat like a traditional Cuban sandwich, but made on a sweet egg bread. It was delicious. I don't know much about authentic Cuban sandwiches, but I consider myself a sandwich expert in general, and this one got my approval. I also got a side of macaroni salad which was quite delicious. It tasted homemade, and wasn't swimming in a ton of mayo, just enough sauce and seasoning to give it a good flavor. I was initially hesitant to go with the full four stars because this place is very rough around the edges. There are a few tiki huts to sit and eat around the side, and a few standing tables, but if you are at all snobby about your eating environment this does not come off as the most hygienic atmosphere....you are in a gas station parking lot after all. Despite this I would definitely stop back for a sandwich and perhaps expand into other parts of the menu as well.

Located adjacent to the gas station on Sample and Dixie, I would have never stopped at this restaurant if it wasn't for the rave reviews. The owner's father was tending the walk up window, he was very friendly and eager to have me try the food. As others have mentioned, this is a counter service where you order at the window, and there are several picnic tables outside if you care to stay and eat outdoors, I opted to take my order to go. - Roast pork, served with cuban bread, white rice, beans & small side salad - Good, 3.5 - Tamales topped with fresh pork - tasty and fresh, 4.0 - Potato Salad - homemade & tasty, 4.0 - Macaroni Salad, it had crunchy apples, it was delicious, 5 stars - Flan - Rich, creamy and delicious, 4.5 - Rice Pudding, 3.5 stars All the sides were great, I felt the pork was a bit dry and although it was good it wasn't the best I've had. the sandwiches looked tasty and overall it was very good value. They also serve coffees, pastries and empanadas. I would probably stop in again and try other things on the menu to go.

Tried the Cuban sandwich & a tamale. Both were really tasty, the pork with the tamale was smokylicious. The only complaint I have is that something kind of big tried to bite my toe under the table. Don't know what it was, but it must have been hiding in the wood chips under the picnic table. So if you're wearing sandals, maybe eat at the stand up tables in the front.

Not fancy but definitely worth coming back to two, or six times! Some of the yelp reviewers seem to have their panties in a bunch, CLEARLY Miyi isn't the nicest joint, but it gets the job done! Pros: They serve breakfast all day. (CHICKEN omelette is everything) It's super cheap. The food is actually authentic & really tasty. GREAT service. They deliver for free if you order $10 worth of food. Cons: They're closed on Monday. We tried the: chicken omelette, tilapia, chicken soup, cortadito, cuban coffee, plantain chips, steak w beans & rice, & chicken w beans & rice...they were all good & for a price you can't beat. My favorites were the chicken omelette, chicken soup, & cortadito. The area is a little sketch but fine to commute in if you aren't an idiot. We visited 5 times over a course of two weeks & when we relocate, Miyi will become a regular spot for us! Overall Miyi gets 5 stars.

Miyi is nothing but a dumpy drivy somewhat fly infested, wannbe punk hoodlum and authentic vagrant hangout of a walk up counter food stand, but love it. If you want to sit, there are a couple of afterthought uncomfortable crappy picnic benches available if not already taken over by some less than desirable locals. The reason I like it and why I like is that even though dumpy as it is, it has real food, a for real local character as well as a local flavor about it which, for good or bad, makes any visit a memorable experience. The food they serve is the real thing authentic Cuban street food, unembellished and delicious. However, have a rather good assortment of offerings along with specials such as tilapia but my fav is the Cuban sandwich which I order double on the fillings (their regular Cuban is a little too skimpy on the meats and cheese for my taste) along with a $2.00 coconut. The Cuban sandwich is great, really good Cuban bread, properly smash pressed and when you order the coconut a rather unsavory looking guy will come out from around the corner wielding carrying a big nasty looking machete, but don't running for your life! What he is going to do is grab a coconut out of a water filled cooler and whack notch into it for you to grab a straw, insert it and slurp out the cool, refreshing coconut water. Trust me on this, there is hardly a better combo on this earth than fresh coconut water and good Cuban sandwich.

Cool little place. Outside eating on picnic tables only. Best Mango shakes anywhere

Pan con lechón was great! Only thing missing was a little bit more garlic and maybe fries as a side but otherwise it was great. Hole in the wall place that you wouldn't see unless you were looking for it. Sandwich was huge and the rest of the food looked good too.

Discovered this place on Marqus' Yelp Feed, read his very humorous and descriptive review, and decided I had to try it. Agree with the description of the "ambience", although we were there on a Sunday early afternoon, and it was relatively quiet, so no real unsavory peeps hanging around. But, the flies (huge) were out, so many of them, really aggressive, I cut my stay short as they were swarming all over. Some high power fans could circulate the air and perhaps the flies would go elsewhere, but trust me, it's gross. Had a Cubano and a Chicken Sandwich. Both were very large, well done, tasty, toasted bread just right, and We couldn't finish either. Started with a few hand helds, the one stuffed with chicken was real good, the large potato ball stuffed with meat was dry, and the meat tasteless - sorry I don't know the name for it - So I'm not running back, maybe would do take out, since the sandwiches were huge and tasty for $5! Rating is the sandwiches, not overwhelmed like my fellow Yelpers.

"El Sorprender!" ~ Simply the best homemade Cuban Food in Broward County. From their thick 14" long Cuban Sandwich, robust Chicken Soup, to the flavorful and tender Roasted Pork Platter! (with Black Beans & Rice and a small fresh, crispy salad) Flan ~ that you can only find from a person who understands the love and care that is necessary in making it. (excellent) Tamale ~ So fresh that it melts in your mouth (tender) The service was impeccable (Kevin) that you only find from a person who is passionate about what they are serving to you! All at such a reasonable price that can't be beat. (... and they also have breakfast ~ Hand-made Croquetas de Carne, Las Croquetas de Miriam, Empanadas) Remember it is a walk-up window and they only have picnic tables on-the-side to devour your food. Coco Frio ~ and after you drink the sweet coconut nectar out of the shell, they slice it open the coconut so you can scoop out the coconut meat to eat. A must try when you are in the area! (everything is freshly made ~ daily) ALERT~ Remember it is on the Northwest Corner of Sample Road and Dixie Hwy. in the gas station!

Simple, delicious, and awesome. Family owned and run. The owner and staff were super friendly and helpful. A real treat for a Chicagoan in Florida. Went here for lunch and had the Cuban sandwich. Sandwiches are $5 or $7 for the combo with drink and side. The sandwich was delicious, with toasty bread and great mustard. This is a "$5 foot long" you will actually love. Came back for breakfast for an omelet with potatoes, ham, and cheese. Served with potatoes and bread. Wonderful! A huge meal and a crazy bargain at $4.75. Get the cuban expresso for a powerful and heavenly caffeine shot. They are on the end of a corner gas station. Dine in is outside with picnic tables and they have done well to make the best of their space. A jumping business for a obscure location. Such a great spot and a fantastic Yelp! find.

This place is Legit! It definitely would make you feel as if you were in Cuba. It's part of a old looking gas station and there is nothing fancy about it. But, who cares when the food is amazing! I would have never know this place existed if it weren't for our Uber driver. Anyhow, everything I ordered here was AMAZING! The service was outstanding! They have a little outdoor dining area to the side under these cute little huts with palm trees so it definitely sets a nice ambiance. This is real Homemade Cuban food, none of that americanized Versailles stuff. The Croquetas and the Refugiados were out of this world savory with the perfect crunch and flake to it. The Papa Rellenas were Huge and the filling was moist. The Sugar Cane juice was freshly squeezed upon ordering and was so refreshing! I love this place and can't wait to come back on my next trip!

Don't let the look of the street deter you from eating at Miyi La Cubanita. This is the second time we have been to Miyi. First, on our way to Key West and now back from Key West heading to St. Augustin and the food is worth the detour. The steak sandwiches were just like the ones my mother would make for us on payday when we were growing up. The rice was fluffy and nutty and the black beans were bold with flavors and sauce. We ordered a flan, which was thick and savory. The owner even gifted us a beef empanada (stuffed with ground beef, olives, and banana peppers) and warm, freshly made rice pudding topped off with a sprinkle of cinnamon. The owner has great energy. Yes, he will start off speaking Spanish which is charming and heartwarming as he assumed by my minimal use of Spanish that I too was of Spanish decent but he quickly changed to English with me as I joked about my limited vocabulary. Hot sauce is available on the tables outside in yellow mustard containers along with oil and lots of napkins. Price was amazing at $20 (yes they accept MC and Visa) with leftovers galore for the next day. Don't judge a book by its cover is the old adage and in this case, the same holds true. Buen provecho!

I have frequented this location many times before, not bad food. BUT the Punk ass kid that works there "The Owners son" his dog got out, me and others stopped to help get the dog! He then came over picked the dog up by the neck and PUNCHED the dog in the HEAD! Then proceed to attack the man that stopped to save his dog from getting hit by a car! The cops were called! I WILL NOT SUPPORT A RESTURANT THAT HAS PUNK THUGS THAT ABUSE ANIMALS THERE!!
